In The Wings, as you may have guessed from the name, revolves around theatre. Specifically, a theatre and drama college in London. Because of this, there is a limit on the occupations characters can have. They are defined below:
+ Student Sub-catagories: Drama, Music, Technology, Stage Design, Stage Management, Directing, Hair and Make-up, Stunt Operator, Costume Design
Age restriction: 18 - 25 [course lasts 3 three years] Pay: N/A Description: Students attend the College. They can join anywhere in the region of 18 - 25 and must attend for three years to get a degree. Students are allowed to stay on-campus, or can choose to have their own homes if they can afford them. Parents can pay for their tutoring, but most students will need to get a job to earn money on the side, as the college does not pay them.
+ Actor Sub-catagories: Music, Opera, Dance, Extra
Age restriction: 21+ [After attending college] Pay: Low - high Description: The exhilaration of performing can be compared to nothing else. However, professional actors and actresses require good raw talent that they can build on. Pay can vary a lot depending on which part you are given. To be the star of the show is a great honour, but to succeed in the world of drama, you must be competitive, good at auditions, fearless, and able to work well under pressure. After all, you need to learn your script.
+ Director* Sub-catagories: None
Age restriction: 21+ [After attending college] Pay: High Description: Directing is a strenuous job; a director needs vision, intelligence, political beliefs, leadership skills and imagination. They also need to be able to order everything, and will be influential in choosing the correct actors for parts. However, the thrill of having your play up on stage is a great experience.. as long as it goes well. You'll need to deal with the press, and be present for every rehearsal. *Only available in special circumstances.
+ Design and Technicalities Sub-catagories: Stage + Scene design, Costume Design, Sound and light management, Stage manager
Age restriction: 21+ [After attending college] Pay: Medium Description: All the technical things happen before the show. Stage and scene design involves manufacturing all the backdrops and scene props; Costume Design is designing and manufacturing costumes for each scene of each play; Sound managements is working with microphones and spotlights; Stage managing is co-ordinating all. These are important jobs that the show couldn't do without, and if your lucky you might get a recognition at the curtain fall.
+ Behind the Scenes Sub-catagories: Hair + Make-up, Stunt Operator
Age restriction: 21+ [After attending college] Pay: Medium - High Description: The "Behind the Scenes" people are always busy throughout the play itself. Hair and Make-up need to visit the actors' dressing rooms and do regular touch-ups between scenes and acts. Meanwhile, the Stunt Operators are up above the stage, dealing with all the ropes and changing the backdrops. They also are the ones who change the props when the lights go down.
