![[image]](http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h248/tyrain/Drama/Canons/8.png)
MS Rating:27... eep <--------->
Who are you? Name: Shayne Austin Edwards Stage name: Shayne Austin Age: 18 years young Gender:Female Occupation: College Student - 1st Year
Looking good? Hair colour:Currently, her hair had to be dyed a deep auburn for her latest show though generally it’s dark brown with naturally darker tones. Her hair is roughly styled short, almost like a long bob or kinda emoish as its longer at the front, with much of the back spiked up, sides tamed down a little with copious amounts of gel.
Eye colour:Grey, with tendencies toward green. Almond shaped.
Height: around 5'8'' Skin tone:In winter, rather pale, though somehow always manages to maintain a slight tan throughout the year, which naturally accentuates in the warmer months. Features:Normally sports a thin, silver lip-ring (which she plays with incessantly – terrible habit, that). Light, sculpted eyebrows frame short, stocky little lashes – a pet hate of hers, whereby she corrects daily with much mascara and liquid eye-liner. Full lips and straight white teeth, another marring thing is her nose, which in her opinion, is slightly squint. The little make-up she occasionally wears is all extremely natural, which helps maintain her skin's good condition: i.e. open pores, non-greasy/excessively dry and with a natural glow or "clearness" about it. Daily cleansing, toning and moisturising plus exfoliation once a week keeps it supple, smooth and generally mark-free: though, being a teen, she's not immune to acne -the bane of most teen’s lives...
General appearance:Preferring to dress down, her "casual" gear normally consists of nicely fitted jeans, some brightly coloured top or other, skate shoes (normally DC's or converse - alternative laces of course), stripy socks, excessively long scarves, pinstripe suit jackets and a love of all hats - be they Cowboi or her fav black Fedora. A little jewellery here and there is about acceptable for her, tending towards skater/surf beads, though a thin multi-coloured friendship band adorns her left wrist at all times, alongside a funkily patterned watch on the opposite. Ears pierced several times, she wears an electric blue hoop in her upper left, whilst keeps a small shark tooth through her right lobe. On stage however, a complete metamorphosis occurs. Tending to prefer male roles, she is mostly seen adorning some well-tailored, period costume complete with gleaming cufflinks, brightly polished buttons and various essential accessories: topper, spats and a cane being a favourite, although also the military/navy /sailor jackets, each with their own special hat and paraphernalia (gloves, monocles, medallions and bow-ties etc.) Not one to say “no” often, she will even squeeze herself into the flamboyant pantaloons and excessive ruffs and cuffs of the Shakespearean and Victorian era’s, her normally slicked back hair replaced with the powdered wig of the particular century. Despite her boyish tendencies, she does enjoy getting “made up” for each individual role, happily applying the layers of stage make-up herself and taking full advantage of the spit-black round her eyes. She’s tried performing as a girl a few times and found it far too intimidating, having to curtsy and blush flirtatiously with the crowds. Her natural calling it seems is to stride forth under the hot white lights in pinstriped trousers and singing roguishly about the “gal’s she’s had”.
Crazy enough? Likes:Coffee, animals (esp. felines), chillin' with mates, partying, flirting, decent music (anything rock/metal/indie), sleepin’, giggin' etc...
Dislikes:homework, tests/exams, bullies, homophobes, actors who think they’re amazing, her parents, the sight of blood, excessive amounts of pain, needles, most green vegetables and esp. Bean sprouts. Fears: pain, death, needles. Strengths:her self-confidence and optimistic outlook on life, natural wit and charisma, dressing herself well and knowing her to accentuate her best features.
Weaknesses:tendencies of winding people up, having a rebellious attitude and is a perfectionist. Ambitions: to become recognised as a professional male impresssario. Interests/Hobbies: Naturally very musical, her vocal and guitar skills brought her into the limelight on more than one occasion. Self-taught pianist, very artistic/creative, enjoys reading, playing computer games, cooking/baking, experimenting with foreign cuisine, badminton/swimming/basketball, looking good and acting.
General Personality:Shayne is naturally confidant, outgoing and rather vain. Never a quitter, she'll try anything once and has therefore dabbled in alcohol many a time, though never drugs –she’d like to have a career to start off with before potentially messing it up! With a quirky nature comes her naturally sarcastic wit and black humour, happily reading innuendo’s into anything and taking pleasure in the shocked (and somewhat disgusted) looks some prudes may throw her. Old people find her irritating and confusing due to her dress-sense and as she likes wearing her performance gear out with the theatre, she rejoices in the many odd looks that are inevitably thrown her way. Making small scenes always amuses her.
Given her appearance is rather androgynous, she does however take pride in her self-styled "boi" look, and coupled with naturally flirtatious tendencies, is prone to winding people up. People have branded her as "greedy" due to her "fluid" sexuality. She maintains they're all just jealous. Amongst her friends however, it's a laughing point, as given her narrative skills, can pull off even the worst story to tirades of mirth. Friendly unless provoked, she generally gets along with most of her fellow thespians, enjoying mostly the company of those who are comfortable enough in their sexuality to play drag kings, queens and are into the demi-queer roles she slips so easily into. She’s generally a laid back kinda gal, though has the “drive” from her mother which gives her the impetus and continued stimulation to achieve her goals. Her friends mean a lot to her, as to be honest she doesn’t really have anyone else to care for, except herself. Highly independent, Shayne takes most things in her stride though unfortunately has issues dealing with stress: mostly resulting in her suffering a lot of pain through a stress-related condition, which, incidentally, has seen her hospitalised many a time. This however, is not something she generally relates to anyone, having learned early on how to conceal how she truly felt. Though proud and loyal, she does on occasion need a bit of “quiet/ me” time.
Where d'you come from? Parents:Carlos DeVito (40), Rosalee Edwards(41) Marital Status: Single Spouse:None Children:None - has no intention of pursuing Pets:In search of a new kitty. Past: Brought up as the only child of two high class thespians, Shayne got pretty much everything she wanted, materialistically. Her childhood however turned sour when her parents split - she was nine at the time. Her father, Carlos, quit his acting career and joint act with his wife and moved back to Puerto Rica to re-discover “his roots” and start up the old band he’d left so many years ago in his pursuit of fame. Shayne therefore was lumped with her mum, Rosalee, where they abandoned the old family home in New Jersey to live again in London, her mother’s birthplace. Shayne was soon enrolled in the same acting school her mother had attended and thus her studies began.
In time the house was sold, and though he continued to pay child support, Shayne always got the impression he was disappointed in her, though she tried her hardest at everything in vain attempts to make him proud. It soon turned out that, no matter how highly she achieved in school, it all boiled down to the fact she was female. On further questioning it emerged that when she was born, her father was "expecting" a son and was therefore highly embarrassed of his "clearly incompetent" wife. Their marriage was a turbulent one, and had started when they were both too young to understand the undertakings involved. At the time they were both up and coming stars in their respective countries and when Carlos’ theatre group moved to London, they co-starred in the act Rosalee had been working on for the last 3 months as the newest “starlet” to hit Broadway. Their romance was of the whirlwind kind, which soon became a marriage with Rosalee’s increasing pregnancy and Shayne’s subsequent birth.
Hiding his shame only made it worse as the years dragged on, and Rosalee was not unawares. She did her best to care for the child, but was just not the "maternal type" – always putting her career before her marriage and other responsibilities, so Shayne never felt truly loved or cherished. Only in the haven of her acting school did she feel truly appreciated, surrounded by like-minded and talented youngsters such as herself. Many a night Shayne would lie awake listening to her parent’s voices, lifted either in song or more frequently, anger. The rows they had were terrible, and as the years dragged on, their material and creative juices dried up and eventually ceased to be. Carlos blamed his wife for being “past her best”, she would therefore retort he was “getting slower and losing his stage presence”. Needless to say, Shayne’s schooling momentarily dipped from the emergence of this revelation and her parent’s constant arguing. Despite her mother attempting to calm her wild tempers, she never said what was needed: that "it wasn't her fault that mommy and daddy argued, and she was beautiful the way she was". Therefore, Shayne grew up full of guilt and self-loathing, hating the pretty things forced on her, blaming herself for her parents unhappiness and turned to her self-stylised "boi" look.
Her father’s leaving made the situation a little easier for the two women. They formed a stronger relationship, her mum gave up acting herself and became a manager for the new up and coming acts, the likes of which she’d been in years before and Shayne’s own acting career took off as, with a little help from her mum, she soon began to get small parts in the West End shows, most notably as one of the children in “The Sound of Music” and starred also in many a pantomime.
